Historic Walking Tours of Hastings

As part of our ongoing 50th anniversary celebration, the Hastings Historical Society is offering two historic walking tours of our village. Guided by Society trustees, each tour is between 1 and 1-1/2 hours long, and will involve approximately ½ mile of walking. Participation is limited to 12` people per tour. Recommended for adults and children 10 and over. Masks are required for unvaccinated attendees.

Tour #2: School Days

This tour will discuss the history of Hastings’ public school buildings, our village’s first president (mayor), our early churches,  and the Five Corners area. We will also cover Burkeley Crest, the Ziegfeld family’s estate that became the Burke athletic fields.

Date and Time: November 6 @ 3 pm (RAIN DATE: Same time on Sunday, November 7)

Start Location: In front of the Hook & Ladder Company at 50 Main Street
End Location: Farragut Avenue, in front of the high school
Suggested Parking Location: Anywhere downtown or in front of the middle/high school

Cost: $10 per person

*The tours are independent of each other; you can choose one or more to attend. In case of inclement weather, please check our website (www.hastingshistoricalsociety.org). If the tour is rescheduled to its rain date, we will post this one hour before the start time.
