Jay Sidebotham grew up in Hastings, living in the same historical house on Maple Avenue from birth until he went off to college. He was in one of the last classes to attend Kindergarten through 12th grade in the same Farragut Avenue building. He had no idea how lucky he was to grow up in a place like Hastings until he moved away. Having traveled a fair amount, he still thinks that the Hudson River with the Palisades backdrop is one of the most beautiful sights on the globe. And the Center Restaurant French fries are beyond compare.

Thanks to the guidance of art teacher Mr. Feaster, he went on to study art in college and then worked in graphic arts in New York for a number of years, including time working in an animation studio working on Schoolhouse Rock. After some years in that work, he made the slight career shift to the ordained ministry, serving as an Episcopal priest in churches in NYC, DC, and Chicago, to name a few.

Jay Sidebotham now splits his time between Wilmington, NC, his wife’s hometown, and NYC, where he works halftime in a Church. He’s been a priest for 30 years, married for 35. He’s got two young adult children, each married, and he has two grandchildren, who brighten his life.
